Janice D. Raymond, 77, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. Janice loved travel, literature, cooking, politics, nature and being a grandmother. She was the center of her family and her family was the center of her life. Her love and kindness extended to everyone.
Janice was born in Astoria, to Marsden G. Haynes and Eleanor J. (Potreck) Haynes on January 29, 1935. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952 and worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles for many years, retiring in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael; her parents; and sister, Carolyn. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Quintin L. Raymond; her daughters, Sandra Wooton, Dorene Quinn, Sheri Stiles, Linda Raymond and Laura Raymond; her eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marla Potapenko and Cathy Jones.
She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 19 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to St. Vincent de Paul or a lung cancer charity of your choice.
