December 15, 1932 ~ July 9, 2012 (age 79)
Born to James W. and Maude Campbell Ward in Montreal, Quebec. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, and Michigan State University.
He served in the U.S. Army in France after graduation, returning to Portland where he worked for the New York Life Insurance Company for 40 years. After retirement, Jim and Linda moved to Kona, Hawaii where they resided for 14 years spending their summers in Oregon near family.
Jim will be remembered by his many friends and associates – at Alii Villas in Kailua-Kona where he was President of the homeowners’ association for many years and for his commitment to the Portland Amateur Hockey Association as a player and coach. Jim’s love for golf kept him active his entire life.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Cindy Guild and Julie Ward; son, Darren Ward; brother, Pete; sister-in-law, Margaret; sisters, Gayle Acker and Wendy Hill (Bernard Jolles); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his son, Jimmy.
A memorial service and reception will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the Summerfield Clubhouse, 10650 SW Summerfield Drive, Tigard.
Donations can be made to the Legacy Hopewell House, 6171 SW Capitol Highway, Portland 97239.
