Jean Marks Obituary

Jean Marion Marks, 87, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012. She was born, August 21, 1924 and raised in Illinois by Carl and Ethyl Lovendahl.

She met her husband, Dr. Tom Marks, at the University of Illinois where she graduated with honors. Jean and Tom moved to Portland in 1947 for Tom’s surgical residency. Jean worked as a chemist until her career was superseded by responsibilities as the wife of a successful physician and to raise six active children. She later added an R.N. degree and a career as an OHSU nurse to her credentials. In 1986, as a retired widow, she and her dog moved to her dream cabin near Mt. Hood to hike, ski, read, relax by the fire and enjoy participation with multiple musical groups.

Gifts in memory of Jean may be directed to the Lymphoma Society, Mt. Hood Hospice, Hoodland Senior Center and/or the Oregon Humane Society.

Memorial service will be held at the Marylhurst University St. Anne’s Chapel, 11 a.m. June 30, 2012.
