Dr. Matthew Jude Gambee died unexpectedly on Sunday September 4, 2022.

Matthew Gambee was born on July 18, 1956 in Omaha, NE. He was raised in Portland, OR and graduated from Jesuit High School in 1974. He earned a bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha. He practiced medicine in Vancouver, WA and Portland for 35 years.

He loved cycling, skiing, golfing, training his dogs, and most of all being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father L. Phaon Gambee, mother Patricia Gambee, and sister Mary Gambee. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Margaret Ahlers Gambee; children Michael Gambee (Kathleen), Erin Kamp (John), Kevin Gambee, and Molly Gambee; grandchildren Fiona and Bridget Gambee and Thomas, Margaret, Henry and Theodore Kamp; siblings Joan Gambee Mahalic (Drew), Martha Gambee Sensenbrenner (John), Louis Gambee, Valerie Gambee DeVoe (Patrick), Edwin Gambee (Karen), brother-in-law Michael Mulholland; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 14th at St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, followed by a private burial. A reception for all family and friends will be held at Waverley Country Club at 5pm.

Remembrances may be made to Jesuit High School in Portland or Family Fish Camp at Camp Angelos in Corbett, OR.
