Ethel Sigrid Mabel Hedlund was born in Somerville, Mass., to Iver Carlson and Ethel Peck. She was raised in Boston. After graduating college she worked as a dental assistant. Ethel relocated with her family to Portland in the 1950’s. After marrying Richard, she worked for Catholic Relief Services providing assistance to people of all backgrounds throughout
the years.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard Carvell Hedlund. She is survived by her brother, Fred; three children; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would once again like to thank Leon and Judith Lupu of Exclusive Home Care for the loving care they provided her and her late husband Richard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Portland.
