Reuben Kurtti died peacefully in his sleep May 11, 2019.

Reuben was born in Paynesville, Michigan, February 7, 1925. After high school, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served on Lake Superior and the coasts of Maine and Massachusetts.

He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech University and put his skills to work in a long career with the U.S. Forest Service. In the late 1950’s, he moved to Oregon where he met his future wife Joan and they married June 2, 1962.

Reuben was kind, generous, funny, smart and practical and had a strong work ethic. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He would often talk about his family and ask, “How did I get so lucky?”
Reuben was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, camp, fish and hunt. He enjoyed traveling, a good Oregon Pinot, Michigan pasties and staying in touch with family and friends.

Reuben was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan. He is survived by daughters, Rose, Dianne and Sharon; three sons-in-law; and six grandchildren.
