October 30, 1939 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 77)
When Ted was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, during his service in the army, he liked the Northwest so much that he decided to make it his home.
After working at Tri-Met for 32 years, Ted retired and has been spending the last several years boating with his wife, Gail. They became actively involved at Tyee Yacht Club, where Ted served as Chairman of Board of Managers. Ted and Gail have enjoyed cruises with Tyee members, family, and friends. Grandchildren Haley, Braden, Connor, Alec, and Ryan especially benefited from these cruises and will greatly miss their times together with Grandpa Ted.
Besides boating, Ted enjoyed playing horseshoes, classic cars, and building up and working on his miniature train collection.
Ted was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and acted as a lector and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ted is preceded in death by his daughter, Corinna Sofranko; stepson, Mark Waltz; brother, Jerry; and sisters, Barbara, Colette, and Frances. He is survived by his sister Joan; his wife, Gail; stepdaughters, Michele Van Dyke and Tracy (Jim) Atchison; son, Rory Sofranko; and grandchildren, Haley, Braden, Connor, Alec, Ryan, Anthony, Courtney, Logan, and Candace.
Ted will be remembered for his loving devotion to his wife and family, his great sense of humor, and his uplifting zest for life.
