Douglas Dyke Obituary

Doug passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 13, 2016 from natural causes.

He was born in Portland to Richard and Joan Van Dyke and grew up in the Cherry Park area of SE Portland where he graduated from David Douglas High School before entering the Navy. Doug served aboard the nuclear submarine USS Scamp, attaining the rank of Machinist Mate 3rd Class. As a diver aboard the sub he earned several commendations during his 5 years of service. He spent the rest of his career in the auto racing and car industry.

Doug is survived by his father, Dick; brothers, Denis, Dave and Dan; sister-in-law Eva; 4 nephews; 3 nieces; 3 grandnieces and a grandnephew.

A Catholic memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Ascension Church in SE Portland. A Celebration of Life and reception will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
