January 28, 1985 ~ January 21, 2015 (age 29)
Natalie Anne Margaret Leathers died January 21, 2015 at the age of 29. Born January 28, 1985, Natalie attended Laurelhurst Elementary, Fernwood Middle School, and Grant High School. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 2007 with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Environmental Studies. After a four-and-a-half year battle with brain cancer, Natalie died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.
The last seven years of Natalie’s life, spent with her fiancé, Graham Clancy, were some of the happiest years of her life. She endured her suffering with dignity, beauty, and grace; never complaining, always giving back and lifting the spirits of those around her. When asked how she was doing, she would reply “Wonderful, so happy to be alive!” We have all been touched by her love, courage, sense of humor, and selflessness. She always cared more for others, sharing and offering encouragement to all who knew her.
She is survived by her fiancé, Graham Clancy, Mother, Peggy Ferguson Leathers, Father, Richard Marshall Leathers III, Sisters Catherine Leathers and Kieran Leathers, Brother , Richard Marshall Leathers IV, sister-in-law Katie, nephew Quint, and niece Golda Grace.
The family is extremely grateful for all of the care and support that was provided to Natalie by the staff and doctors at OHSU.
Our baby girl is now at peace. Natalie Anne is no longer on this earth, but will always be in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. We thank her for the lessons of life we have learned from her example. She was truly a role model for living a positive life while enduring constant adversity and pain.
Dedicated to all those who have lost the fight and to those who will not give up the fight.
