Michael Brian Mason was born January 25, 1966, in Portland, and diagnosed with Lesch-Nyhan syndrome that same year.

He touched many lives with his courage, mischievous personality, sense of humor, love of sports (especially the Oregon Ducks) and, most of all, his smile.

His family is grateful for all the caregivers, nurses, doctors, teachers and therapists that helped to make his life better. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Providence Child Center, Albertina Kerr, Oregon Health & Science University and Edwards Center all had a part in his life.

Michael passed away peacefully March 17, 2014, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Diane Mason; sister, Libby Gallagher of The Woodlands, Texas; and many aunts; uncles; and cousins.

There will be a celebration of Michael’s life at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Edwards Center, 4375 S.W. Edwards Place, Aloha, OR 97007. Remembrances may be made to Edwards Center.
