August 15, 1927 ~ August 3, 2021 (age 93)
Allene Mae Morgan went on to her eternal home on August 3, 2021. She had been living in Portland, Oregon. Allene lived a full life and was just 12 days short of her 94th birthday. She was born on August 15, 1927, in Portland, Oregon, to Fred and Irene Staehle Amacher.
The family lived in Linnton, Oregon, and in Miles City, Montana, before settling in Hillsboro. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945 and then studied Psychology at the University of Oregon, graduating in 1949.
She married Robert R. Morgan, Jr. in 1949. They lived in Portland most of their lives, with a short break living in Menlo Park, California.
Allene was a homemaker and also stepped in to help her husband as a bookkeeper for the family business, Industrial Chrome Plating Co. Allene was known for her hospitality and good food. People loved to receive an invitation to dinner.
She was a member of Hinson Baptist Church in Portland for almost 70 years. Allene began singing in a choir at age 11 and enjoyed praising God as part of the church choir for all of her active life. Yearly church camping trips with the Philathian Sunday school class were always a highlight and continue to bring many fond memories for her children.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lily Bobu and Daniel Mester for their wonderful care while Allene was living in an Adult Foster Home for the last season of her life.
Allene is survived by her children, Garry Morgan (Connie) of Spokane, Washington; Steve Morgan (Debbie) and Sue Thiesen (Mark) of Portland, Oregon; and Carol Nel (Willem) of Macia, Mozambique; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years Robert; and her sister, Phyllis Amacher.
A public memorial service for Allene will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 2:00 PM at Hinson Baptist Church, 1137 SE 20th Ave., Portland, Oregon.
