August 21, 1914 ~ July 31, 2015 (age 100)
Anne attended Franklin High School and after graduation, went to work for Safeway stores in the personnel office where she was the receptionist for 13 years. For two years in a row, due to her outgoing and friendly personality, she won the award for “Social Secretary” at Safeway which, at the time, was a coveted award. Later, she was employed at Johnson-Lieber (a brokerage firm) where she met her husband, Phil Johnson (known as Mr. C & H Sugar of the Pacific Northwest, due to his many years of representing that company). When she knew she was going to get married, she left Johnson-Lieber and went to work for Joseph Gerber Advertising.
After marriage, she traveled with her husband throughout Europe and the United Kingdom, where they formed many relationships. They were longtime members of both the Portland Golf Club and the Multnomah Athletic Club and were active in social events in Portland for many years. Anne was a resident of Holladay Park Plaza, where she was honored in 2006 as Volunteer of the Year. She made many friends at Holladay Park and she went out of her way to meet and get to know new people when they arrived. She was always willing to be of service among all residents.
Anne is survived by her stepdaughter, Lynn Johnson, currently living in Mexico.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in Skyline Memorial Park.
Arrangements are through Riverview Abbey Funeral Home.
