May 19, 1992 ~ March 31, 2024 (age 31)
Our beloved Anthony Charles Polson (King Laz) sadly passed away on March 31, 2024, at the young age of 31.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 19, 1992, is where he lived his first 3 years. During those toddler years he was mesmerized by the Brazilian music and sounds all around him. Listening to and watching the drummers everywhere in that city he began to beat those rhythms with any object that served as a rhythm tool. His drumming aptitude was so extraordinary that he received his own drum set at the age of 2.
From those early years of rhythm development, Anthony continued formal music education with several world renowned teachers throughout his life. At an early age, he evolved into a national award-winning jazz drummer. Later he immersed himself in the world of rap and hip-hop, composing, recording, and performing, never ceasing to amaze his audience. Anthony’s love and passion for, and dedication to music was his driving life force.
Also in Rio de Janeiro, Anthony went from crawling to running, skipping the walking stage. He developed an agility, speed and coordination that lead to outstanding athletic abilities in soccer, track and basketball. As a father, Anthony shared these skills playing with his children. He has passed on his passion for music and athletics to all three of his children.
Anthony’s philosophy of life centered around respect. His motto was to be proud of who you are and what you accomplish. He always exhibited pride in his own work ethic in every aspect of his life. This carried through when life was difficult. Anthony believed in sticking up for himself and others showing loyalty and resilience when faced with challenges. For him, life should be lived by giving to, not taking from others.
With the most infectious smile, he could draw anyone who was graced to see it into his love for having fun. He was the life of any gathering, whether large or small, sharing his gifts and love with all. Anyone who knew Anthony, knows that family and loyalty were of utmost importance to him. He also embraced all the friends whom he met throughout his life’s journey as part of his family.
He will be deeply missed by his three children, Antonio, Andre and Camilla; his mother, dMarie Carver; his father, Kenney Polson, and all his cherished friends and family.
There will be a celebration of life at Riverview Abbey, 319 S Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, OR 97219 on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM
