August 3, 1932 ~ April 13, 2021 (age 88)
On April 13th, Audrey passed peacefully with her family at her side. True to her nature, Audrey lived a vibrant and full life up until her last days.
Audrey was raised in Lake Oswego and attended Lincoln High School. Though she graduated from University of Oregon in Far Eastern Studies, she was a talented fine arts student there which framed her love of art throughout her life. While life guarding at Lake Oswego during college, she met her love, Ralph M. Mattison. They were married 51 years until his passing.
Professionally, Audrey worked for several consulting engineering firms, including Jacobs Engineering for many years until retirement.
For nearly eight decades, Audrey resided in Lake Oswego. Her heart for others was expressed most passionately through her commitments to community, children’s education and her church. At a time when she could have eased into a more passive life following retirement, Audrey continued to help shape policy and build community, particularly in the Uplands neighborhood where she resided for 60 years.
Many recognized and deeply appreciated her years of steadfast commitment to interact, engage, and imagine better possibilities for her community, the Uplands Neighborhood Association, and the city’s treasured Springbrook Park.
A long-time neighbor and friend of Audrey’s said, “We readily see what Audrey accomplished in the trails we walk, the roads we travel, the people who lead our city, and the volunteers who serve and became engaged because of her. We are most grateful for her legacy.”
Audrey is survived by her son Jim Mattison (Susan), daughter Joan Klinkhammer (Marty), and her three grandchildren Grace, Evan, and Katie.
A Celebration of Life is being planned. Remembrances can be made to: Friends of Springbrook Park, 3360 Fir Ridge Road, Lake Oswego, OR 97035-2645.
