I first met my cousin -in – law Barbara in Alaska in 1967 when my parents and sister Margaret and I flew up for the 25th Anniversary of Alaska’s statehood. I also play the piano and enjoyed talking to Barbara about music and piano technique. She was very interesting and knowledgeable about piano literature. All of the children (Leo and Barbara’s) were little then and very fun to see. It was a very good time and a very good memory.

Barbara was my “nosy neighbor” for 15 years. One day, young me was across the street, trimming my giant hydrangea. Barbara walked from Jane Clark Park down the sidewalk and announced herself. “It’s me! Your nosy neighbor, Barb!” My mood was not the best that day. I made a little groan and said, “I knooow.” Barbara howled with laughter. She watched me raise my child from across the street. We often had chats standing in the sidewalk in front of her house, sometimes in her living room, and in her magnificently nurtured yard. She took care of her place impeccably. She had an emergency card on the fridge in case anything happened. She imparted wisdom. I moved away and have missed her ever since. I was fortunate to stop, knock on her door, and see Barbara in August of 2024. I met her granddaughter, Hannah. I am beyond fortunate to have known this glorious human being. I will share more if I am able. Much LOVE to you all.
