Betty Munch Obituary

Betty Munch, a longtime Northwest Portland resident, passed away March 12, 2016. She was 75.

Born to Rudolph and Velare Planting in 1940, she grew up in Astoria and graduated from Astoria High School. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Northwest Portland in the 1960s and later was a homemaker. Later in life, she worked for Silver Cloud Inn and Northwest Place.

Betty was a big sports fan and could always be found listening to or watching her favorite team, the Portland Trail Blazers. She also had a huge love of animals, particularly cats and at one time had four furry companions.

We give a very special thank you to the caregivers at Robison Home who showed great compassion and love to her the past couple of years. She made many friends at Robison, and enjoyed playing bingo, watching Blazer games with fellow fans and talking sports with staff and residents. A special moment for her was being named Robison’s “Rose Queen” last spring.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Beverly. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa McKinlay (Tom); grandson, Matthew; son, John Lamb; and many friends.

At her request, no service will be held. Remembrances may be made to the Oregon Humane Society.
