April 20, 1919 ~ June 4, 2017 (age 98)
Beulah “Bea” Budke DuVall passed away in Portland June 4, 2017 at the age of 98. She was born April 20, 1919, in Sherwood, N.D.
The family moved to Corvallis where she graduated from Corvallis High School in 1936. She then went on to attend Oregon State College where she graduated in 1941 with a B.S. degree in General Science. She married Clyde Henry DuVall, Jr. in 1942. He was an Ophthalmologist in Portland. They had three daughters, Diane, Sharon and Julie.
Bea was a member of the Multnomah County Medical Auxiliary and the Oregon State Medical Auxiliary and held many appointed and elective offices enjoying the companionship of many women of like interests and ambition. She loved her church and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Portland since 1958. At home she was a seamstress of great ability and enjoyed sewing for herself and daughters. She loved to cook, play bridge, read, study and entertain.
Travel has been her greatest pleasure. With Clyde they traveled around the U.S. and the world. They visited every continent except Antarctica, photographing as they went. She also loved music since an early age playing the clarinet in High School and College orchestras and sang in the college choir. She often attended the Pops Symphony, opera and many musical presentations in Portland. In her later years, Gene Hendrix was her good friend, companion and caregiver.
Bea was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother “Gigi” and friend. She was admired and loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Harmon of Albuquerque, N.M., Sharon Oliver (Patrick) of Bend and Julie Menashe (Albert) of Portland; five grandchildren, Amy Cawrse, Molly Harmon, Ryan Oliver, Marisa Howe and Taryn Lange; and eight great-grandchildren, Ava, Ellie, Sawyer, Jillian, Campbell, Tyler, Lily and Mariah.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church.
