Beverly Jean Davis

May 7, 1928   ~  April 24, 2023

Beverly Jean Davis was Born on May 7, 1928 in Kerry, Oregon near Clatskanie; the daughter of Cecil and Maude (Eldred) Armitage.  As a young child she was raised near Clatskanie, Gaston, Forest Grove and Midway, Oregon and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945.  She passed away on April 24, 2023 at the age of 94.

Beverly married Jack A. Davis of Portland, Oregon in 1948 and they resided in the community of Multnomah for 50+ years where they raised their 2 children, Donna and Jerry.

In the 1960’s she received her Montessori Certification and helped open West Hills Montessori School where she taught until she retired.  Beverly was a lifetime member of Alpha Zeta Beta sorority, and an active member of St. Barnabas Church for over 50+ years, where she served as an Altar Guild member and many other committees.  Among her other interests she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, camping, traveling and spending time with family.  Beverly and Jack were founding members of the Portland Regional group of the Horseless Carriage Club of America and in the 1960’s built a mountain cabin near Breitenbush Hot Springs where the family spent free time and hosted friends.

In 2002 Beverly moved from the family home to Tigard and lived in the Summerfield Retirement Community for 15 years before moving to a nearby retirement facility where she has lived for 6 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Moore (Brian) of Tigard; Grandchildren Tyler Moore (Sarah) of Powell Butte, OR, Heather Fredrick (Phil) of Tigard and Justin Davis (Mary) of Vancouver; her 5 Great Grand-children, Allie Davis of Newport, Laney and Asher Moore of Powell Butte, OR, Reese and Hayes Fredrick of Tigard; and nieces, Pat Zumwalt (Dave) of Cornelius, and Bobbi (Gary) Seaquist of Rochester, MN.

Join in honoring their life – plant a memorial tree

Bev was kind and helped me dress up from her extensive collection of old time clothing while participating in one of their Horseless Carriage tours. I felt like part of the family! What a fun lady she was.

A Memorial tree was ordered in memory of Beverly Jean Davis by Tom Moore and Mary Harrington. Plant a Tree

Bev was a caring and supportive Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Mother-in-Law. She will be missed by all. She now is with Jack, Jerry, other family members and friends who have passed before her. Rest in Peace Bev. Brian

I taught with Bev for many years at West Hills Montessori School and knew her as a friend and dedicated teacher. I’m sure her family will miss her very much. I send my heartfelt prayers and thoughts for the days ahead. Lovingly, Barbara Bennink

It’s an honor to reflect on Bev’s life. I fondly remember as newlyweds and new to the neighborhood, Donna sharing her mom and dad with us. Like an extended mother, she warmly welcomed us under her wings and guided us back on track to a life vested in Christ. I am so thankful for the legacy she has left in her wake. I am so at peace knowing she is face to face with Jesus.

Happy first Heavenly Mother’s Day Bev! We love you.

We enjoyed being Beverly’s next door neighbor in Summerfield while she lived here, and then I saw her regularly as I played the piano at Woodland Heights. Beverly’s favorite hymn was “In the Garden”! It was a pleasure knowing her.

Mrs. Davis was my Montessori teacher at West Hills Montessori School, and always had a friendly smile for me at St Barnabas church. She had such a memorable impact on my childhood, and I will always cherish the memories of her at school and church. Your spirit and light will forever be with me.
