August 23, 1929 ~ August 22, 2016 (age 86)
Teacher, counselor and principal at Lake Oswego and Waluga Junior High Schools, Byron was a beloved educator known for his warm smile and apt administrative skills. As an avocation, he designed and built many homes in the Oswego area. After retiring from education, he joined forces with Connie, working together as a Realtor team. Byron and Connie were very active in Our Lady of the Lake Parish where their children attended school and where Byron mentored and served on the school board for many years. Meurlott gatherings were filled with lots of family, friends, food, music and laughter. Byron was known for his really tall Christmas trees, his famous Caesar salads made in one of the large Hawaiian bowls carved by his grandfather, his love and delight in Connie and his family, his great interest and trust in people, and his strong Catholic faith in God.
Byron is survived by four of his children, Tom (Linda), Marlu (Ed), Vince (Annie Mac) and, Anne Du (David); nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and his uncle, Aimoku, in Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, and their youngest daughter, Michelle.
