Cam Chau Harless passed peacefully at age 87, September 29, 2020, of natural causes.

Cam Chau was born in 1933 at Hue, Vietnam. In 1963, she moved to Saigon and started work as a translator. While a translator for the U.S. Navy, she married Wayne Harless, in Saigon in 1969. In 1972, she gave birth to their daughter Rachele. They later divorced. She moved to San Diego in 1994, and then to Portland in 2015, both times to be closer to family.

Cam Chau was preceded in death by her mother, Công Tôn Minh Trai.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachele; four grandchildren, Elise, Nolan, Miriam, and Ada; and two sisters, Cam Nhung Nguyen and Nhu Lan Nguyen.
