Carolyn Rix Obituary

Carolyn passed away peacefully on September 25th with family at her side. A proud, native Oregonian, Carolyn was born in Corvallis and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in education. She taught kindergarten in the Portland Public Schools until her retirement. In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, life-long friends, and her two Westies. She also relished studying family genealogy and traveling to Alabama and New Jersey for extended visits with her grandchildren.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Richard Rix, and is survived by her three daughters (Melanie Luvall, Melissa Young, and Cyndi Salemy), their husbands, and her seven grandchildren. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

I was talking with a friend about our elementary school years and I remembered my Kindergarten teacher Ms Rix at Woodlawn Elementary School. I googled her name and found this obituary. I am 43 years old now and I have never forgotten her nurturing spirit and her kindness. She was a gem and made an impact on my life that has been with me all of these years. My condolences to the family.
