Catherine Marcina passed away peacefully on October 20, 2021. She was born in Portland, Oregon, attended St. Patrick Catholic School and St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1950. Employed at ESCO Corporation in NW Portland for over forty years, she retired in 1994. For most of her life, she lived in the NW Portland neighborhood where she was raised but traveled extensively. Among her favorite destinations were the Mediterranean region, including Croatia, the childhood home of her parents. She also ventured to Asia, South America, and Mexico.
For over three decades, she brought her energy and giving spirit to Portland’s civic and cultural life as a volunteer at the Portland Visitors Bureau, the Portland Art Museum, Newmark Theatre, Pittock Mansion, and the Simon Benson House.
She is survived by her sister, Gina McMurran, her niece, Mary Helen McMurran, nephew, Lewis A. McMurran, and grand-nephews Stuart and Archer McMurran.
A private crypt blessing will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on November 17.

Sorrow is a burden that no one can share but the load can lighten by people who care. Sending hugs and prayers during this difficult time and trusting Cathy’s memory will stay in our hearts forever.
Joyce McMurran
Cathy always had fun stories to share with us about her travels and being a movie extra. She was a very unique person and woman of her time being so independent and adventurous. I will always remember her kindness shown to me and her great nephews. The photo attached was one of the last excursions together in the company of, sister Gina, niece Mary Helen & great-nephew Archer McMurran She truly enjoyed her lunch and cruise on the river that day. We will all miss her. ~Lisa Clark

Dear Aunt Cathy,
You are resting peacefully now. Thank you for being my “favorite” aunt; as I know I was your “favorite” nephew…
May you be remembered fondly by all you knew you. See you in heaven.
Lewis McMurran
