January 10, 1933 ~ November 26, 2017 (age 84)
Charlene was born on January 10th, 1933 in Sheridan County Kansas, but spent the majority of her childhood on the plains of Eastern Colorado. She was the youngest of six children, born to Charles and Florence Reed, and attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse in Eastern Colorado before graduating in a class of 25 from Simla High School in 1950. Charlene had fond memories of riding her horse as a child, and from a young age loved to dance. She was a loyal and ardent Trailblazer fan, and a razor sharp bridge player who showed no mercy. Charlene’s church community was important to her throughout her life, and she was particularly proud of Kairos-Milwaukie United Church of Christ (Congregational) for its tolerance and openness. Above all, Charlene was deeply committed to her family and dedicated her life to raising her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who will remember her for her ceaseless love, concern, and candor.
Charlene leaves behind her husband Don, and her children Vicki (Andy) DeGraaf, Rebecca (Christopher) Szwaja, and Gordon Robertson; stepchildren Karen Robertson, Kay Robertson, Scott (Jovie) Robertson, and Mark (Rosemary) Robertson; grandchildren Sarah (Jon) DeGraaf, Kelly DeGraaf, Kendall Robertson, Reed Robertson, Denise (Casey) McBride, Brian (Sherilyn) Wilson, Kevin (Sarah) Wilson, and Erin Damour; and great grandchildren Brenna McBride, Makayla Wilson, Teresa Wilson, Taran Robertson, Henry Wilson, Emily Wilson, Emma Wilson, and Charlee Robertson.
