Charles Bennett Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce the untimely passing of Charles Robert Astorino Bennett, on march 28th 2023, following a “hopeful recovery”post surgery.. The loss of this wonderful person has  affected family and friends who loved him immensely.

Charles (Charlie) was born in Passaic NJ on October 19th 1961 to Ruth Bennett and Charles Astorino, their third child together. He joined the US Air Force at 18. He continued working in the banking and computer business throughout life. He loved basketball  and could quickly answer any question ever asked about the NBA or the Hobbit Lord of the Rings world. Charlie loved long drives to the mountains the beach, trips to Vegas with his brother and friends. His dislike for spiders was well known.

He was an amazing caring brother who always had a way to calmly inspire and brighten your day.. “Grandpa” to Brodi, uncle to Brooklyn. Son& grandson to his late beloved Grandpa Sepich and Grandpa Astorino,  nephew, cousin, friend. He will never be forgotten, and life for us who go on without him will  never be the same. We miss you, Charlie.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Oregon Humane Society, in memory of Charlie’s beloved cat, “Bobbie.”

Service will be held June 4th at 1pm at Riverview Abbey in Portland, Oregon.

I’ll never forget what a great friend and “brother” he was. We enjoyed so many good times together; dinners every week, BBQ’s with neighbors, trips to the beach, etc. He was family and was loved by our ENTIRE family. I miss him so much.

Charles was my friend of over 25 years. He had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor He was fun, generous, honest and brave.
Sadly, he left us way too early.
My condolences to his family and friends. I will miss him always. RIP Charles.

Charles was a good friend and a wonderful co-worker to many, many of us through our years at Tektronix. His friendly face and expert pc knowledge was shared across campus to everyone he met. We could all depend on a smile, PC help, or a good story when Charles was there. He will always be remembered as a great guy with a big heart. RIP my friend, and sending my condolences to all family members.

Charles was my friend for over 25 years and was part of our family when we lived in Portland. Great guy and friend. Kind, smart and generous. You may be gone Charles, but I will never forget you.

Deepest of sympathies to all who loved him. Never a bad day when Charlie was around. I never laughed so much. Enjoyed working with him and knowing him for almost 40 years. So many wonderful and funny memories. I wish we could make more.
