November 1, 1935 ~ February 2, 2022 (age 86)
Command Chief Master Sergeant USAF, Retired
41 years, 8 months, 26 days Final Duty Assignment
Senior Enlisted Advisor // Special Assistant To Commander, 939 Air Rescue Wing
Chuck was born November 1, 1935, to Irma and Charles Spencer in Astoria, OR. Chuck became a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Chuck dearly loved his Lord, his wife of 64 years and his family. He felt very blessed and proud of each and every one. He thoroughly enjoyed telling and hearing family stories and events. He celebrated life daily. He enjoyed his time in “Air Force Blue” becoming a Command Chief Master Sergeant credited with nearly 42 years of combined service in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
We want to remember that Chuck cared and tried to serve his Lord, Country, family, and his fellow man. He was content when things were fair to all. His interests were broad and varied; from 40+ years with Toastmasters, as Reynolds School Board Chairman, to Scouting, youth sports, and politics. Vocationally, Chuck culminated a 50+ year career in insurance auditing. Chuck was also very active in Toastmasters and was an Able Toastmaster and Distinguished Toastmaster.
Accolades, awards, and trophies adorned his office walls as well as our hearts. He certainly left his mark, and we will miss him. He has woven his last threads into the fabric of his life. Chuck’s loom has now closed, and the fabric of his life is on display via the call of the Heavenly Father into a new work.
The great love of his wife, Norma Spencer, predeceased him. Survivors are daughter Penni Donatto (David), daughter Jennifer Spencer, son Timothy Spencer (Christina), son Jonathan Spencer (Joni), son Michael Spencer (Jennifer), nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
There will be a private inurnment at Willamette National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held June 20, 2022, at 10:30 am at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church located at 2420 NE Fairview Avenue, Fairview, Oregon 97024.
Remembrances may be made to Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon.
