January 13, 1925 ~ December 19, 2010 (age 85)
Con was born Jan. 3, 1925, in Vancouver, B.C., to Chris and Georgia Michas. After growing up in Regina, Saskatchewan, Con graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1947. While attending a Greek cousin’s wedding in 1947, Con met his future wife, Jeanette, in Vancouver. After a year of correspondence, they married Aug. 21, 1948, in Portland where they raised their three children.
Con was very dedicated and successful in his work life. He sold Hershey vending-machine routes, started his own vertical-blind sales business, and sold life insurance. He then joined IBM in 1955, where he trained clients on many innovative products. He retired from IBM in 1983 at age 58 and remained an avid supporter of all of IBM’s ventures.
A loving and devoted husband and family man, Con was known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. He was a humble man with a charitable heart, a strong sense of ethics, and was a consummate gentleman. He served as a great role model not just to his family, but to many in his career and community. His greatest joys were being surrounded by his loving family and traveling with Jeanette.
