Delpha Gertrude Sipe was born in Midvale, Idaho on the family homestead. Her parents were George Sipe and Jane( Points) Sipe. The family moved to Beaverton, Oregon during the heart of the great depression. Gertrude graduated from Beaverton High School. She married Clair Young on August 2, 1941. Together they had four children. Ted (Georgienne), Shirley Ernst (partner Bill Davisson, Joy Stevenson and Dennis (Ruth). Gertrude had nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Gertrude was a very active mother. She was a den mother, room mother, team mother and PTA officer. She never missed one of her children’s activities. After her children were raised she continued her volunteer work at her grandchildren’s schools. Some of her other volunteer work included The Mt. Hood Kiwanis camp and years of working at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop.
Clair and Gertrude were avid square dancers. They traveled the world pursuing this hobby. After Clair passed away in 1986 Gertrude continued her world travels.
At Gertrude’s request a private family service was held at the Riverview Abbey.

Dear Family,
We are saddened by your Mom’s passing but joyful that she and Clair, as well as other departed family and friends, are again together! We so enjoyed watching them build their lovely home next to us on SW Texas Street back in 1972. And, they were the best of neighbors through the years that we enjoyed their company. A life well-lived for an entire century!!. Not many lives are so blessed with so many years with family and friends. Our sincere blessings for all of you as you continue to remember the impact that she has had on your lives. Her Spirit still lives –
A candle was lit in remembrance
Trudy was a great friend to my Grandma, Helen Mittendorf. I always enjoyed our weekly lunches together when they both lived at Carmen Oaks. They both made it to 100 and now they can carry on their parties in heaven.
