June 22, 1929 ~ August 9, 2013 (age 84)
He was the second of seven children. Darrel married his loving wife, Eileen Eisele, in 1955. Together they moved to Chicago where he served in the U.S. Army. They eventually moved to Lake Oswego where they raised their three daughters and built a successful HVAC business.
Darrel loved life. He was a natural born leader with a heart to serve family, friends and strangers alike. He enjoyed gardening and had a special passion for roses. He was a very involved long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Darrel will be remembered for his quick wit, spirit of adventure, creative storytelling and for being everyone’s best friend.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughters, Kenlyn Long (Bill), Cameo Passini (Greg) and Renae Kempthorn (Greg); seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 16, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 790 A Ave. Lake Oswego, with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Cure PSP, 30 E Padonia Road, Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093 or online at http://www.give.psp.org/.

I will always remember Darrel as such a kind and joyful man. I always enjoyed seeing him and his positive attitude was infectious. I will always remember climbing Cloud Peak with him. He could run circles around me! Love and prayers to the Burt family at this difficult time.
Arlen Gattis has sent this Expressions of Sympathy card.
It was an honor & a pleasure to know Darrel. We always enjoyed our visits with him during the yrs. We will always remember his love of life & his voracious energy to come to Wyoming every summer and climb Cloud Peak with our family! God Bless
