Dennis Day Obituary

Dennis James Day was born August 20th 1942 to Jim and Ann Day of Sherwood Oregon. Dennis or “Denny” as most of us called him spent the majority of his life living within a ½ mile of where he grew up on the family farm. After enlisting in the Army Reserves Denny came home to work locally as a supervisor for GAF or as most of us knew it View Master. He liked staying close to his family and could always be relied upon during a difficult time. He was especially fond of his only niece DeeAnn. Denny was always up for a good time he loved to laugh and entertain. Denny passed on Thursday May 29th 2014 he is preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his sister Barbara Schlitt and his Niece DeeAnn Smith and her husband Charles of Molalla. Denny will be missed but will always live in our hearts as we will always love him.

I wish I’d had more contact with Dennis, as I only saw him at weddings and funerals, but I so enjoyed talking with him. What a nice man. I’d kid him about his fancy boots and get a laugh. So sorry he’s gone.

Comfort for your sorrow,
Courage for each day,
Strength to face this journey,
His Word to light your way,
His peace to fill your heart,
Although you may not understand,
And his love to hold you gently
In the hollow of His hand.

May the peace
God’s promise offers
help to ease your grief today.

With Sympathy,

Adam H. Bowers

Dennis was always fun – wish we lived closer.
Just last week I laughed as I found pictures of Dennis and the moose
So sorry for your loss

I am so sorry to hear about Dennis. We went to High School together and just reconnected for class get-togethers the last few years. I cannot remember anyone who did not like and enjoy being around him. I wish he would not have been such a recluse(he said that not me) he will be missed by many of us.

Although the relationship that Dennis and I shared was entirely professional in nature, we did strike a chord of ephemeral intimacy somehow, and I am absolutely certain that it was because of something inherent in Dennis’ aura that made people feel comfortable being at ease and open in his presence. What a great gift to be able to give to another human being! I will miss his infrequent visits at Burnit Studio (always related to Collie Club of America work) and chats about life very much indeed and his passing saddens me deeply for his closest acquaintances, for they surely will miss his persona so much more.

My condolences. Although I didn’t know Denny personally, he is my second cousin once removed. I wish I had stopped by last year when I was in Oregon and met him.
