August 30, 1943 ~ July 26, 2023 (age 79)
On July 26th, 2023, our “precious angel” Diane found her way home to Heaven. In her own words, a passion for encouraging others marked her life’s journey: “I’ve always thought I was to be an encourager, cheerleader, counselor, teacher, to inspire with words, cheer up others…” Born and raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, she kept fond memories throughout her life of summer days spent at the family cabin on Diamond Lake. She loved singing alongside her father, Greer Drew, in their church choir. Being a cheerleader at Klamath Union High School brought her memories of joy all her life and was one of her favorite times in her young life.
She went on to the University of Oregon, where she earned a triple Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, English, and Speech and a Master of Arts degree in Education. After college, she settled in Lake Oswego, where she embraced her role as a devoted mother and teacher. She shared her passion for education as a psychology teacher at Lake Oswego High School, where she left an indelible mark on many young minds. Her connection to nature was reflected in the pink and red flowers she lovingly tended, as she also did in her church community, keeping others in her prayers.
Diane’s legacy will forever be defined by her infectious sense of humor, her ability to uplift and inspire others, and her steadfast devotion to her family. Her children were the center of her universe, and her unwavering love and encouragement were their guiding light. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she led and the positive impact she had on all who were privileged to know her.
Diane is survived by her three children, Michelle, Angela, and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Lauren, Jackson, and Ruby, who will carry her memory in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to help cover the costs of funeral services. Contributions can be made directly to the family at Venmo account “Michelle-Weigel-1”, providing essential support during this challenging time.
We bid “A Million Mahalos” to Diane (Mom, Mum, Meme): may fleets of angels sing you to your rest. And may her light continue to shine in our hearts, inspiring us to spread love, laughter, and encouragement as she did throughout her remarkable life. We will miss her and know the world is a better place for her having been here with us.
You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Diane Faye Dean

Diane was one of the best people we’ve ever known. She gave all of her energy to whoever she was interacting with at the moment; she was fun, smart, engaging, positive, gracious, and wise. No one was excluded from her sphere of love and friendship. Until we meet again, rest in peace, my friend.
