May 1, 1924 ~ July 13, 2013 (age 89)
He attended Ockley Green School and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School. After, he enlisted in the Marines, he was sent to the Pacific with the forces preparing to invade Japan. Returning home, he went to work for the Army Corps of Engineers, helping to dredge the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and some ocean bays.
He loved the outdoors and was an enthusiastic and skilled hunter and fisherman. His many hobbies included gardening and he grew vegetables as well as beautiful flowers both at home and at the vacation home in Tidewater. In addition to camping trips, he and his wife, Joan, enjoyed trips and cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal and Europe. He was a member of the Northwest Steelheaders Association, the Oregon Hunters, the Beaverton Elks and the American Legion.
He is survived by two children, Zena Verros and Richard Cutting; two stepsons, Gordon and Stevenson Browne; three granddaughters, Holly McClung, Megan and Sarah Verros; grandson, Jeremy Cutting; and great-granddaughters, Casey and Cassidy McClung; and his wife, Joan.
He was a kind and loving father and husband; he will be missed. At his request, there will be no service.
