June 27, 1953 ~ June 13, 2018 (age 64)
Donna Wedlake Gilmont of Portland died with dignity, June 13, 2018, after a nine year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 64.
Donna was born in Portland June 27, 1953 to Glenn and Alyce Wedlake and grew up in the Portland area, graduating from Wilson High in 1971. Donna received a degree in Art Education from Oregon State University in 1976 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 1985.
She married Norm Gilmont in 1977 and began an around-the-world adventure, which took them to Flagstaff, Arizona, Anchorage, Alaska, Balikpapan, Indonesia, Damascus, Syria, Lafayette, La., Jakarta, Indonesia, Sugar Land, Texas and Perth, Australia before retiring to Portland in 2011. Donna worked as an interior designer, drawing on the influences of their worldwide travels. She loved to create and collect art and was always happy to assist her friends with their design projects. While in Sugarland, Texas, Donna founded the Lulu Belles, a women’s group that explored the local arts and antiques scene. In Portland, Donna founded the International Girls Quilting group, which creates quilts for cancer patients and taught many of her friends to quilt. Donna was a warm and gracious hostess who made their home a desired destination for friends from around the world. She was truly a great woman, always looking forward to the next adventure.
She is survived by her husband, Norm; sister, Joan; brother, David; and nieces, Anna Wessinger Bladholm and Carolyn Wessinger.

To the Family & Friends of Donna Wedlake Gilmont:
I would like to express my deepest sympathy to each of you for your loss. Losing our loved ones is very painful. While we are relieved that they are no longer suffering in sickness and pain, it still leaves us with a broken heart.
Our heavenly Father assures us that our loved ones can and will live again. He hates death and views it as an enemy. He has a longing to conquer that enemy, to undo death by means of the resurrection.

John 5:28,29
