October 9, 1921 ~ March 5, 2016 (age 94)
Edward Monroe Bell passed away on March 5th, 2016. He was surrounded by family and friends, along with hospice care, at his beloved home, listening to trains pass on the Willamette River. His experience as a World War II bomber instilled in him a warrior spirit which gave him strength, dignity, and respect for and by others.
Edward was also a lover of animals, and a devoted husband to his wife Isabelle, who preceded him in death. They have been reunited at long last, and have a final resting place at Willamette National Cemetery.
The following poem was composed in honor of Edward Bell by Grace Winslow:
We lost a dear friend
Who fought to the end
With dignity and truth
He was handsome and cute
But kind of a brute
He was loved by his wife
Isabelle Bell the love of his life
He was strong and bright
Until the last light
His favorite color was blue
He loved the Willamette River
As it flowed through
As he did too

Some of my dads greatest memories were at his uncle Monroes home, where my father spent many summers. He and his wife, Isabelle, were both very educated, kind, and gracious.

Please accept my deepest condolence for your loss. We know life will change from this point and we will be lonesome at times. But when we are alone we can think of this Scripture found at (James 4: 8) which encourages us to draw close to God and he will draw close to you. This is a comforting thought since life goes on. (Isa. 41:10) tells us not to be afraid for God will help us holding us with his right hand. Truly comforting words all we have to do is take advantage of getting close to him so he can get close to us.
Sincerely, Lynn
