Elizabeth Weiland Feely was born in Ashton, S.D. to John and Ruth Weiland. She was the third of nine children.
She graduated from South Dakota State Teachers College and taught school in Ashton. In 1942, she joined her brother, Pat, a Marine pilot in San Diego. She worked for Consolidated, the airplane manufacturer.
Then she met and married James “Ted” Feely in San Diego in 1944. They moved to Portland, in 1947 and later to Lake Oswego in 1953.
Elizabeth loved gardening, especially her roses, traveling and playing cards. She adored her two granddaughters, Shelby Feely and Madelyn Turner. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, in 1975.
Devoted to her family, she loved her parents and is survived by her children, Michael of Brigantine, N.J., Stephen of Durham and Patricia Kevena of Richmond, Calif.; as well as sisters, Joanne Webb of Astoria, Pauline Fielder of Salem; and brother, Tom Weiland of Tualatin.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1701 SW 4th Street, Portland.
The family requests that donations in memory of Elizabeth Feely be sent to Maryville Nursing Home in Beaverton.
