Evelyn Chase Obituary

Evelyn Chase passed away peacefully on November 21, 2013, in her home at Hearthstone of Beaverton, at age 96. She was born Evelyn Edeline Henning on November 7, 1917, in Newburgh, New York, to Florence and Joseph Henning.

After her high school graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper until she married Raymond F. Chase on October 1, 1937, in Newburgh. After marrying, the couple resided in Ray’s hometown of Peekskill, New York, for 57 years from 1937 to 1994.

Evelyn was a homemaker, raising two children, and was very involved in community and church activities. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, crosswords, watching Jeopardy and traveling.

In 1994, Evelyn and Ray moved to the Garden Home community near Portland to be close to their daughter, Sharon, and family. Ray passed away in 2001. In 2008, Evelyn moved to Hearthstone.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Chase of Tucson Ariz.; daughter, Sharon Cram (Robert) of Portland; grandsons, David Chase (Stacy), William Chase (Shelly), Jeffrey Cram (Jennifer) and Kevin Cram; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Chase, Connor Chase, Evelyn Chase, Walter Cram and Everett Cram.

Private interment is in Riverview Abbey.

The family suggests remembrances to the Employee Appreciation Fund at Hearthstone of Beaverton, 12520 S.W. Hart Road, Beaverton, OR 97008.
