July 12, 1931 ~ January 1, 2015 (age 83)
Genevieve “Skee” Easton Hamilton died peacefully January 1, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 12, 1931, in Umatilla to T.O. and Gladys Waller, she was raised by her grandmother, Jennie Connell after her mother’s passing.
She was a beloved sister to Charles, Tom, Gary, Gay and Wayne Waller. After graduating from Umatilla High School and attending Eastern Washington College, Genevieve married A.W. “Bud” Easton April 30, 1950. Together they owned and operated several successful businesses while she supported Bud’s career in local government, frequently entertaining the governor and other dignitaries.
She was active in Eastern Star, holding many positions including worthy matron. She and Bud raised their three children and spent most of their married life in Umatilla. They moved to Portland in 1975 to be closer to Bud’s aging mother and sister. They were married for 27 years until Bud’s untimely death in 1977. She enjoyed a successful career in real estate with Stan Wiley, later marrying Carl Hamilton in Hawaii in 1987. They traveled extensively and enjoyed their mutual interest in traditional jazz and barbershop music until Carl’s death in 1998.
She was an active member and former board member in her church, Unity Church of Portland, enjoyed the Portland Symphony and Pops and was a true Trail Blazers fan. She was a selfless, giving and incredibly loving mother to her children. She was a loving aunt to Pat McMurray and Judy Allen, who were with her as she passed. She was a proud grandmother who enjoyed being a part of their lives and accomplishments. She lived her life as an example to her family and large circle of friends. She will greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her son, Robert Easton and wife, Sue; daughter, Patricia Crismon and wife, Michelle; stepdaughter, Carol Hamilton; and grandchildren, Garry, Michelle, Andrea, Robert and Jesse. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Easton; and stepson, Mark Hamilton.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Unity Church of Portland followed by a crypt side service at 2:30 p.m. at Riverview Abbey. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, she requested donations to Unity Church of Portland.
