July 24, 1928 ~ December 31, 2013 (age 85)
He served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1946 to 1948. He was a graduate of the University of Portland, worked as a chemist for Charlton Laboratories and the City of Portland, and also served with the Oregon State Police as a lieutenant in the police crime laboratory.
He was a member of the Northwest Association of Forensic Scientists and the American Chemical Society.
He is survived by his wife, May Matsuda; and sister, Kathleen Sato.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at the Stockpot Restaurant, 8200 S.W. Scholls Ferry Road, Beaverton.
