October 25, 1933 ~ September 8, 2024 (age 90)
Gerald “Jerry” D. Miller age 90 of Portland, fondly known as Gramps to many, passed away on Sunday September 8th, 2024. His transition was peaceful and without pain, as he was surrounded by his loved ones until the end.
Gramps is survived by four of his seven children: Kevin, Andrew, Veronica, and Mary. Also by two of his four siblings, Beverly and Conrad. Gramps will be missed and thought of often by his forty grandchildren, sixty-seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Gramps was a man of service, to his family and his community. He was a concrete inspector by trade, retiring from Ross Island Construction in 2002, but his off time was spent as a Portland Police Reserve Officer for nearly 40 years. He also volunteered his time at his daughter Mary’s daycare for over 10 years. Gramps dedicated his life to serving others and was highly regarded by all, both young and old.
Gramps loved children and they loved him as well, he loved the beach, running and watching a baseball game, but above all, he loved his family.
Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday September 13th at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Northeast Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 10:30am, just before the mass is celebrated.
