Herbert Joseph Hoffart was born December 2, 1940 in Rugby, N.D., to Joseph and Elizabeth (Job) Hoffart. He died March 26, 2020 at West Hills Convalescent in Portland.
He attended Rugby High School, graduating in 1958. Herb joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea where he served as a medic. He attended North Dakota State University, but was recalled into the Army due to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. He graduated from NDSU in 1965 with a degree in Business. After graduation, he moved to Washington where he worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company and then to Portland where he was employed in sales by NCR and Northwest Data. He later established Herb Hoffart & Company, a real estate development and property management company.
