May 1, 1928 ~ March 17, 2014 (age 85)
Jack Bernard Lindeman was born May 1, 1928, to Henry and Theresa Lindeman in Portland. Jack was the second of three children. He spent his entire life in Oregon with the exception of the two years he spent in the U.S. Army.
Jack graduated from Tigard High School and went on to graduate from Oregon State University. Jack married the love of his life, Betty Lou Allen, in 1952. Jack and Betty remained married until her untimely death in 1990. Jack and Betty had three children, Jeanine, Denise and Steve. Jack spent his life in the construction business, even building the family home in 1965, where he remained until his death.
After Betty’s death, Jack never remarried but found friendship in Margaret Anderson. Jack and Margaret traveled extensively – something they both enjoyed and were fortunate enough to do.
For those of us who loved him, he will be missed every day for the rest of our lives. Jack lived a life of integrity and was devoted to his family. He was a humble man who always had a smile and never spoke an ill word about anyone. He was content in life, never placing value on wealth, but instead valued character, honesty and most of all, his family. He will be remembered for his kind, compassionate nature, his great sense of humor and his love for his family. Through example, he has taught his family how to live with integrity and, in the end, how to die with grace.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister; and the love of his life, Betty.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Jeanine Pescuma (Scott) of California and Denise Thompson (Tony) of Beaverton; son, Steve Lindeman (Laura) of Vancouver; nephew, Kevin Zelinski of Portland, of whom he thought more as a son; brother, Richard Lindeman (Anita) of Portland; and beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa, Tyler, Amanda, Adam and Delaney. Jack has been enshrined in Riverview Abbey along with his wife, Betty.

We don’t always have to know a family to feel empathy for them when they lose a loved one in death. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I wish to express my condolences as you endure this sad time. May the God of all tender mercies be a source of encouragement to you during your time of bereavement (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). He can and will help you through this difficult period because “He (God) cares for you.”
Sincerely
