October 11, 1918 ~ March 29, 2016 (age 97)
Janette was born to Charles and Clara Kuns on October 11, 1918 and grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She moved to Oregon with her family in about 1939 and married Art Galloway June 1, 1942. They had two children, Mike and Patricia (Patti). The family enjoyed camping, fishing and vacationing with their travel trailer.
Jan worked as a receptionist for the Boy Scouts of America for a big part of her life. She was active in her church and loved to do things and go places with her friends and family. She enjoyed sewing and made beautiful costumes for her daughter, Patti, who was an accomplished dancer. Living for years near Alpenrose Dairy, Janette could often be found watching a little league game or involved with other activities at the dairy. In later years, Janette and Art moved to Royal Villa, in Tigard and lived there for 35 years. Janette worked in the office of that facility, as well. In 2013 Jan moved to Avamere Assisted Living, in Hillsboro, where she was cared for compassionately by the caregivers there. She enjoyed playing Bingo and card games, attending a Bible Study and sitting outside, watching the people come and go. Janette loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Janette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Wilbur Kuns. She is survived by her children, Mike, who now lives in Scappoose and Patti who lives in Aloha, two grandchildren, Tyler Galloway and Katheryn Ventris, both of St. Helens, and three great grandchildren.
Janette liked to do line dancing and is presently dancing to her delight in heaven. She was well loved by all her family and friends and will be dearly missed. However, to quote Helen Keller, “What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us”.
A service celebrating the life of Janette Galloway will be held at 11:30 am Monday, April 4, 2016 at Riverview Abbey Mausoleum.
