Jeanne E. Mundal passed away September 4, 2014, at Mirabella Portland’s Memory Care. She was born March 23, 1919, in Astoria, to Elmon and Leatha McIrvin.
In 1929, the family moved to Felida, Washington. Jeanne graduated from Vancouver High School in 1936 and Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Oregon in 1941. She taught nursing before becoming the director of the nursing school.
She married Allen Lauritz Mundal, M.D., in 1945. Together with Helen and John Reynolds, they built Crestview Convalescent in Southwest Portland. Jeanne and Al oversaw Crestview for 20 years before selling it in 1984.
In retirement, Jeanne enjoyed both golf and bridge as a member of the Portland Golf Club.
Al predeceased Jeanne in 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Love of Portland; sons, Alan of Portland and Tom of Peoria, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Mirabella for their care and kindness during Jeanne’s stay there.
Jeanne’s memorial service will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014, at the Portland Golf Club. For more details, please call 503-452-9203.
