John Bishop Collins was born in Portland on Oct. 22, 1925. He died May 7, 2012 at the age of 86.
Mr. Collins graduated from Grant High School, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and in the Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
John graduated from Grant High School in 1943. He attended Rice University, and in 1946, joined his father in the family business, Collins & Erwin Piano Company, from which he retired in 1986.
Mr. Collins married Anne Mary Blatner in 1946. He was a member of St. Thomas More Parish and a Eucharistic Minister.
John was an avid tennis player and was a member of Irvington Club and Multnomah Athletic Club.
John is survived by his wife, Anne; son, Stephen (Lynda); son, Tom; daughter, Christine (Brian); son, Dan (Janice); son, John B. II (Joey); grandchildren, Ean, Nick, Andrew, Carter, Grant, Davis, Wyatt; and great-grandson, Shawn. Son, Michael, preceded him in death.
