August 27, 1926 ~ November 18, 2014 (age 88)
John is survived by his son, Samuel, and daughter, Erika. John’s wife, Thora, died in California in 1985.
John was a Lewis & Clark Alumni, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry in 1948. He put his scientific knowledge to use, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers and making a living as a Chemical Engineer. John was a passionate collector of optical instruments such as microscopes, antique and 3-D cameras and retired from his self-made business, Seabird Technical in 2004.
John was known for his quiet, generous nature. A few of his favorite things included nature photography, Sunday drives to the woods, coast and mountains. He loved picking fresh raspberries, listening to classical music, reading science fiction, the morning newspaper and watching mysteries including his favorite, Perry Mason. John Little will be remembered and missed for years to come.
Remains will be interred at Riverview Abbey in Portland, OR – Hemlock aisle, niche number 1W8A across from his brother, Gordon A. Little, on or about December 13, 2014 and buried December 17, 2014 with honors at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA – Section 2A, Site no. 1738 with his wife, Thora and first born daughter, Michelle.
