December 18, 1935 ~ November 23, 2013 (age 77)
Judy was born December 18, 1935, to Willis and Mildred Skelley in Des Moines, Iowa.
She attended and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1958, and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Following graduation, she married her college sweetheart, John V. Harker, University of Colorado, Class of 1957. Judy completed graduate education courses at Pepperdine University and taught for a number of years in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades in both Texas and California.
While busy raising three children, she and John relocated several times with the U.S. Navy and business, and lived in Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut and Virginia before settling in Lake Oswego.
A gregarious, fun-loving, people-person, Judy presided over several different newcomers’ groups and was involved in local women’s social groups as well as in her church. She was an active and energetic lady and enjoyed tennis, water skiing and snow skiing with her family. Judy also loved interior design and decorating, entertaining, fashion and gardening.
She felt blessed by so many loving and caring friends and treasured her church family. She and John traveled extensively over the years but Judy was happiest when her family gathered at their favorite spot in Sunriver.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, John; children, Julie Weber, John V. Harker Jr. and James S. Harker; grandchildren, Robert, Ryan and Kimberly Harker and Nicole and Jack Weber; and sister, Shirley Becker of Des Moines, Iowa.
A celebration of her life will be held at Sunset Presbyterian Church in Portland at a date yet to be determined.
