June McAllister, age 97, passed away quietly on December 23, 2016 at Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin Oregon. She was born April 10, 1919 in Buhl Idaho, the only daughter of Alois and Madeline Willeman, immigrants from the Alsace-Lorraine region which was then part of the German Empire. A homemaker and thoroughly a westerner, she raised her family through moves from Utah to Washington State and finally Oregon. She lived in the Portland Metro Area since 1963 and for the last 14 years at Mary’s Woods Retirement Community in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

A compassionate giver to others, she freely offered her time and energy to a number of catholic volunteer activities and neighborhood organizations. Being a book lover, books were a constant companion and always raised her first question to others “What are you reading, dear?”.

June was married to Robert McAllister for 54 years before his passing in 1998. She is survived by her sons, Robert Jr., David, James, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Mary’s Cathedral Alter Society in her name.

A funeral mass in her memory will be held at the Mary’s Woods Chapel on the Retirement Community Campus, Tuesday January 3, 1997 11 am. Valet parking is provided.
