November 6, 1976 ~ August 24, 2021 (age 44)
Kyle Matthew Barbisan passed away unexpectedly at his S.W. Portland home Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at age 44. He was born and lived in Portland for most of his life, attending Smith, Jackson, Wilson High School class of 1995, Portland Community College and Portland State University, where he received a BS Degree in Social Sciences in 2003. He graduated with honors from both Wilson and PSU. Kyle worked as a Peer Counselor in the greater Portland area.
While at Wilson High School, he played baseball, basketball and football, and also participated in soccer, foil fencing, little league baseball, and AAU basketball in his earlier years. Kyle always enjoyed watching sporting events when not participating in them. At Wilson, Kyle was also voted “most unforgettable” his senior year, and entertained all with his portrayal of Rocky Balboa in a Valentines assembly. He was always ready to smile and have fun.
A favorite trip took him to Kenya Masai Mara, Egypt, and the Seychelles Islands ending in NYC and Times Square on New Years Eve, another circling the European Alps to find where his grandparents had originated.
Kyle was the son of Trudy Kyle Barbisan and the late Bruno A. Barbisan. He is survived by his mother; brothers, Jerry and Nick Barbisan; and sister, Jenny Miller; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He maintained strong friendships with those with whom he started kindergarten, especially Roger Sunada and Jesse Putnam, and those he met throughout the years, including bonus brother Kenny Jenkins.
Kyle was a loving son and brother, a true friend, a kind soul who will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be planned in the future when Covid allows gatherings. Get vaccinated!
