April 19, 1942 ~ May 26, 2015 (age 73)
Larry was born in Eureka, CA, to Louis and Edith Salimena. They moved to Portland in 1950 where Larry worked in their Burlingame Fountain and Variety on Terwilliger. He attended Saint Clare Elementary and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. Larry attended the University of Portland, graduating from Central Washington University. He worked for First Interstate Bank/Wells Fargo for 30 years in Portland, retiring as a trust officer in 1996.
Larry married Patricia Hurliman on June 26, 1971. They always had room at their table for drop-in’s and travelers. A member and past president of East Portland Rotary since 1983, he and his family hosted over 20 exchange students. In his youth he was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 41. Later in life, he served as scoutmaster, Eagle Board member and District Commissioner for Cascade Pacific Council. He was a member of the Elks, Club Paesano and Arthritis Foundation. Patricia became a Royal Rosarian in 2004, and Larry was an active volunteer.
Larry is survived by his wife Patricia, sons Geoff Latham (Melody), Geno (Erin) and Giovanni (Cheryl), and daughter Gina Smith, and seven grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Edith.
Remembrances may be made to the Boy Scouts, or East Portland Rotary.
Funeral mass on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 12 PM at St. Clare Catholic Church, 8535 SW 19th Ave, Portland. Rosary at 11:30am.
