HILLSBORO – Louise Bernards’ celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 18th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church located at 475 SE 3rd Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon.
Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m.; recitation of the Holy Rosary will be offered at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Father Jim Galluzzo is the celebrant. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bernards died October 20, 2022 at FRT Adult Care Home in Portland, Oregon. The family is deeply grateful to Eugenia and Filip for the excellent care provided to Louise.
Mrs. Bernards was born December 5, 1923 in Verboort, daughter of Victor and Dora Krieger Herinckx. She was raised in Verboort and attended school there. On October 12, 1948 she married William Herman Bernards in Cornelius. They made their home in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Bernards was a homemaker. She was an active member of St. Matthew’s parish. Louise had the mind of a businesswoman and used her talent to volunteer in the parish office for more than 40 years. While healthy, each week she brought Jesus to patients in the hospital, the rehabilitation center and the nursing home. She served as the Sunday Adoration Leader, attended daily mass and offered the rosary. She also served as sacristan.
Survivors include her four children and their families. Merlin (Jackie) Bernards, Gloria (Gary) Flager, Wilma (Dave) Sawyer and Dale (Karen) Bernards. Louise has ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, William Bernards; her sisters, Marie Van Domelen, Margaret Trullinger; her brothers, Antone Herinckx; Joseph Herinckx and grandson Jeffrey Flager.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Mt. Angel Abbey, 1 Abbey Drive, St. Benedict, Oregon or Diversity as a Gift 1314 NW Irving Street #512.
