June 8, 1938 ~ January 25, 2023 (age 84)
Lourdes passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones in the early morning of January 25, 2023 in Portland, Oregon.
Lourdes Trinidad Wegan Maga Mateo was born and raised in Pasay, Philippines. She also met her husband Pablo Mateo Jr (d. 2010) in Pasay before the two settled closer to Manila.
Lourdes was always easily found in any room by her beaming smile and kind heart. Her love and determination took her across the globe in 1985, where she was the first of her family to bravely immigrate to the United States with the mission of creating a brighter future for her family.
Between 1985 and 2015, Lourdes served an array of customer service positions and managerial roles in California; including roles at EOS Corp in Camarillo and the Point Mugu Galley located within its namesake naval base.
Her journey continued onward to Oregon in 2017 where she spent her twilight years at leisure often making her signature leche flan and watching her favorite action and drama series.
She is survived by her five children, Antoniette, Lourdes, Alessandro, Jesse, Joei and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and grandpets.
A Catholic memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Riverview Abbey at 319 S Taylors Ferry Rd., Portland, with a reception to follow.
